Tuscany Wedding near Florence

Wedding in Tuscany

For this wedding, I was booked together with my friend and great videographer Jana Buskova. (here is the video, click on it only if you are ready to cry) Jana pick me up in Florence in a stylish Fiat 500 and we drove together to the typical countryside of Tuscany. We spent three days together eating great Italian food and, of course, drinking a lot of wine.

Saturday was all about this amazing couple:
“Bride and groom started dating in July 2014 and were married on their fifth anniversary, July 14, 2019. They were engaged on March 11th, 2018. They planned their wedding for a year and four months.

Early in their relationship, they studied abroad together in Florence, Italy through the Gonzaga-In-Florence program. Following both of their graduations from Gonzaga University, they volunteered at a meditation retreat center in Northern Italy for six weeks. Traveling is very important to the couple. They wanted each person at the wedding to be fully present for the day. The guests and wedding party staying together in a beautiful villa in a foreign country created a perfect opportunity for an intimate experience for all the guests. They originally wanted a smaller wedding, but were pleasantly surprised when so many people planned to come! Italy holds a special place in their hearts, and they hope to live there one day.

The wedding was all planned from the United States by the couple. They chose a venue almost immediately after getting engaged. However, after almost a year of planning, a new venue had to be procured due to a gas line explosion. They wanted to get married in Tuscany and were very fortunate that Villa Barberino was available, and had the exact number of rooms and beds needed for their guests. They choose Villa Barberino because of the stunning view, wonderful staff, and ability to host all of their many guests for up to five nights. It was all meant to be!

The wedding day was magical. Nicholas and Sophia were married by Sophia’s aunt, surrounded by a bridal party of 19, in front of 70+ friends and family. Nicholas and Sophia exchanged vows overlooking the lake in one of the many beautiful gardens of the villa.

In total, 70 people traveled from the United States to be there, from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, California, Utah, and North Carolina. Some guests had never left the United States before, and many had never traveled to Europe before.”
