Mountain wedding in Murau / Austria

This is going to be very personal. Because when one of your closest friends, mate in crime, co-worker, co-traveller (and all things that your bestie can be!) is getting married, it is always too personal.

Some of my clients know Anet as my co-photographer. We travel all around the world together and capture weddings. We have spent a lot of time together since we met in the art college. Every time when we discussed our dream wedding she always told me – “when the day will come, I want you by my side and I do not want to see you work on my wedding!” But I just felt it’s my duty to capture the day for her since we are capturing the memories together for different couples. So I came with a plan that our other friend Emil will help me during the day so that after the couple photo session, I can get rid of my camera and be the true maid of honor for my beloved Anet. Thank you, Emil, for making this happen. As well big thanks to Jana, our friend and best videographer in the world, that you kept me as a part of the wedding video too. Anet and Pepa are mountain climbers. They are spending almost every weekend hiking in Austrian Alps. No one was surprised we had to travel about 5 hours away from Prague to Murau. Anet found and rent a perfect cottage that was about 3 kilometers far from the first inhabited part of Murau. We were alone in the forest which gave us a chance to sing songs till midnight around a campfire. The ceremony happened on a meadow with a breathtaking view of The Alps. In a golden hour in very late afternoon. The wedding officiant was a friend of Anet with a personal speech about their life. The hardest and nicest part of the ceremony was an exchange of vows. They both made me cry so much, that for a first time I was photographing completely blind of tears for few moments.

The wedding morning Anet and Pepa build up the arch together, Anet’s sister went to the forest to collect some leaves and flowers for the wedding bouquet. Both moms and oldest sister of Anet prepared the food. Fathers kept the fire in the cottage… Like in the old times. Celebrating away from the normal world, without phones and internet connections.
By the way, these two rocked it out till the end. They spent their first night as a husband and wife in a “billion stars hotel” – outside of the cottage in their sleeping bags (yes, in the end of September, in Alps). You just have to love them as I do!
